Stop in at Sharky's on the Pier!  A fun and festive atmosphere beckons you to enjoy an array of pier favorite menu items,  fresh catch of the day, tasty appetizers and why not top it off with a favorite beach drink or a frothy margarita. . . should you stay through the evening, enjoy listening or dancing to some tropical tunes!  Want more. . . for those with a more sophisticated palate, go upstairs to Fins at Sharky's.  Dine on an array of lite bites or exotic cuisines made with fresh seasonal ingredients while you enjoy panoramic views of the Gulf.

Stroll our Beaches

Enjoy miles of beach from our North Jetty to Caspersen. . .maybe find a sharks tooth or two. From sunrise to full days, refresh as you splash and feel the cooling Gulf water.  Pack a picnic cooler full of fresh fruit, sandwiches, and water.  Bring a good book to read as you soak in the vitamin D from the Sunshine.

But, most of all, remember to spend some time here in the evenings to enjoy nature's art as you view the most spectacular sunsets you'll ever see!


Snorkling or SCUBA Diving

Bring your gear and set up camp on the beach.  Then walk to the edge of the water and swim out to the Gulf. Remember your SCUBA Flag and dive down to explore the world below. . .minutes into your dive the sandy ocean bottom will capture you in a world of sand dollars and sea urchins.

Once you adjust your eyes you will discover why this is a magical place to divers and find an abundance of shark teeth scattered several different dive sites for your foraging pleasure.

Those more daring may adventure to the "black sand" and discover the big prize. . a tooth, could be up to 6", that belonged to the carcharocles megalodon, a prehistoric giant shark which roamed our coast millions of years ago!




Learn why we are called Golf to Gulf

Venice offers several golf courses to play, many with multiple courses giving golfers choices ranging from old Florida executive style to courses newly built and designed by such as Ted McAnlis, Gordon Lewis, and Ron Garl to name a few with championship holes in distinctive layouts providing challenging play and a rewarding golf experience at every level.

The Plantation is the proud home for the  the 72 hole LPGA Annual Tour Qualifier which have players who went pro such as Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak, Michelle McGann, Pat Hurst, and more.


Tennis Anyone?

Venice offers 16 court facilities for you to enjoy a round or two.

Hecksher Park in downtown Venice at 459 Barcelona Ave, offers six public tennis courts.  By calling this facillity at 800-800-3906 you can register to play with other tennis players.  For a small fee a player can be matched with other tennis friends.



The Sarasota Polo Club is offers leagues, tournaments playedfrom December through April.  The public is invited to attend, bring your blankets, picnic baskets, and enjoy the "fastest game on four feet"!

Enjoy pony and Clydesdale wagon rides, tailgating, divot stomping, half-time entertainment, a wonderful afternoon for family fun.

Bike Ride

Biking or Cycling

You will find Venice a bicycle-friendly environment with numerious trails throughout the area.   The Legacy Trail, starting at the Historic Venice Train Depot, beckons you to enjoy a smooth paved 10 mile trail through to Sarasota.  It offers shade and drinking fountains along the way to help make your ride a comfortable experience!

Paddle out from any of Venice beaches and see our shoreline from the water.   Watch out for Wildlife, birds, Pelicans, fish and maybe run into a playful dolfin!

Venice 's main street, Venice Avenue, is where you will find concerts, arts and crafts shows, and more special events.   Venice also hosts the annual Shark's Tooth Festival at our Fairgrounds near the Venice airport. visit Venice FL (click here) for upcoming events.

An especially amazing event is the Chalk Festival! See the largest installations of 3D illusions and fine art on the pavement at the Fairgrounds by artists from around the world! It is  performance event and the artists are more than happy to talk with you while they are creating their art for your viewing.  see

Learn to Fly

Would you like to learn to fly? Florida Flight Training Center   was founded in 1992.  They take pride in their agenda to train and teach their students to become the best Airline Pilots.   see for more information.

Venice Airport annually displays a live history museum of World War II warplanes which have been restored by the Collings Foundation of Massachusetts who sponsor the Wings of Freedom Tour.  On exhibit, and available for rides, are two World War II planes, the B-17 and the B-24 Liberator.

Fishing or Boating?

Having trouble with your reservations?    Here,  you can always order your dinner on-line!  Throw your line in the water from the Venice Pier, or the North Jetty both places are a good place to fish or just enjoy watching the locals reel in their catch of the day!  Charter fishing, deep water fishing in the Gulf is also available.  Nothing like the sport of catching a big red grouper, amberjack, or a King Mackeral!

Enjoy your day out on the water! Several Marinas offer deep water dockage with easy access to the Gulf for boating enthusiasts.  Visit for information on boating without actually owning a boat!  No worries.



Thirsty or Hungry after a Days Activities?

No worries!  Venice has many fine restaurants to sit and relax after a day of sunshine. Have a cocktail or two, then please your palate with a scrumptious appetizer, and a mouthwatering dinner.
